Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) or winter cherry is a popular herb in Ayurveda and is known for its multiple medicinal uses. The root of this herb smells like a horse (ashwa) and hence the name ashwagandha. This herb is commonly known as “adaptogen” as it helps the body to adapt to stress.
